Join our Team of Hero-Making Heroes

We are looking for passionate, energetic, creative and reliable volunteers who love working with kids, love the stories of Percy Jackson, Star Wars, Avengers and love STEAM learning! As a certified 501(c)(3) non profit organization, students are eligible to earn community service hours while taking on an active leadership role! If this sounds like you, APPLY NOW!


Year-Round Volunteer Roles:

EDUCATION: Members of the Education Team are responsible for brainstorming, writing, testing and editing all of the STEAM activities available on our website. Volunteers work on their own hours and gain practice writing and teaching. Afterall, if you can teach something, you really understand it! Must be organized, creative, will to learn, and have proficiency in high school STEAM topics.

PROGRAMS: STEAMachine Programs are what make us unique, and the Programs Team helps brainstorm, plan, and facilitate all aspects of STEAMachine programming. This includes our online GooseChase challenges and summer camp programs! Students who are organized and creative and are interested in learning logistics, communication, and planning are a perfect fit for this team.

FITNESS: The Fitness Team brainstorms and creates all of the physical fitness activites for STEAMachine. Volunteers must creatively mix STEAM, fitness, and pop culture ideas into engaging activities and videos to get kids excited about moving and learning. If you love physical activity of any kind, including combat or weapons, this is for you!

CREATIVE AND MEDIA: Creativity calls you! The Creative and Media Team helps bring our programs to life. By creating puzzles, theming content, and helping bring stories from the page and screen to life, volunteers will learn how to think creatively and critically while working on a team. Volunteers will also work together to engage the community through social media, including posts, captions, graphics, and film editing.

Summer Volunteer Roles:

COUNSELOR: The Counselor is responsible for leading a cabin of 8-13 year-old Demigods and Padawans on their weekly camp journey and for helping them discover the hero they were meant to be.  Must be proficient in high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics and at least 16 years of age to volunteer.

JUNIOR COUNSELOR: The Junior Counselor is responsible for assisting a Counselor with all activities, and helping Demigods, Padawans, and Cadets on their week-long camp journey to discover the hero they were meant to be. Must be at least 13 years old to volunteer.

ACTORS:  Calling all actors and actresses who can role-play to make our camp stories come to life!  Note, actors will not be called daily. You may apply to be a Counselor and Actor concurrently.

SWORD/LIGHTSABER/COMBAT MASTERS: If you have training in taekwondo, karate or stage combat, help young Demigods, Padawans, and Cadets develop their strength and agility and discover the hero within. You may apply to be a Counselor and Sword/Lightsaber/Combat Master concurrently. Note, masters can participate daily, but can also be guest instructors as a single-day volunteer. Must be at least entering high school to volunteer.
